This is about a holiday website that assists people to find a new place to go on holiday. This website is for people who are looking to go on holiday but do not want to go back to the same places they have already been to. This website inspires visitors and helps find them new and exciting places to go on holiday that are similar to a place they have already been to or to a place that matches the criteria they look for.

 

 

How to Search:

First of all the website visitors are given a map of the world (similar to Google Maps) where they use "pins" to create an area, inside which is the area they would like to go on holiday. For example a person could select just France or South East Asia or the whole world. Several areas can be selected and as many "pins" can be used in order to highlight their chosen destination areas.

 

Then they are given two ways to search for a holiday;

1. Holiday places matching

There is a search tool where the person will type their holiday favorite destination, or the destination that they like and want a similar holiday destination to.

 

The website will then find several options for the person to choose from within the radius they selected and similar to the destination they have previously been to. The website has a database of all locations in the world and the type of place it is; for example, Paris is a city location and involves sightseeing. The results that would come up for Paris will be cities that have good sightseeing opportunities.

 

2. Criteria

The other searching option would find holiday destination ideas by website visitors filling in the following criteria:

  • Location (town, beach, rural, etc)
  • Holiday type (touristic, sight seeking, adventure, relax, romantic, family, etc)
  • Month of the year they want to go
  • Weather preferences (temperature gauge)
  • Accommodation specification (hotel, hostel, camping, etc)
  • Accommodation type (5*, 4*, 3*, 2*, 1*)
  • Duration of holiday
  • Total cost (the person can also choose is this cost excludes or includes flights)
  • Etc.

 

The website will then find several options for the person to choose from:

  • Ideas within the search radius and specifications.
  • ‘Inspire me’ ideas within your radius but outside their specifications.
  • ‘Inspire me’ ideas using their specifications but outside their radius.

 

 

Results Information:

Each result will include further information on the holiday destination (eg: accommodation cost, flights, getting there, discounts, things to do / top tips / must sees, etc.).
